Willow Slough

Location: From the junction of US 41 and SR 114, west on 114 to State Line Road, then north and go two miles to the entry road for the headquarters, which is back to the east half a mile.

Description: Not Visited. Well-known and popular, but supposed to be nice anyway; sandy dunes and wetlands centered around a large and shallow lake. I know a lot of people who go there to fish, apparently with some success.  Some remnant prairie and marshland. Contains the Bill Barnes Nature Preserve. Probably worth a visit.

Nearby Points of Interest: LaSalle F&W; Beaver Lake; Conrad Savanna

Cautions: Insects and mud.  Be aware that hunting is allowed throughout the site, even in the Nature Preserve.

Facilities: Not-so-primitive camping; plenty of service roads for hiking.
