Description: Not Visited. Okay, so I'm a bit of an elitist. I like to be out in the woods or on the prairie without anyone else in sight. Naturalist-led programs leave me cold. Parks run by county boards do not attract me. But I have to admit this preserve sounds like someone really cared about presenting nature to people, and if people don't get a good understanding of what nature means to them, who's going to care about leaving any really natural areas for me to enjoy myself in? The preserve is 612 acres, contains woodland, a forty foot oak covered dune, marshes, ponds, quaking bogs and other habitats; there are rare animals and plants protected here, and they offer year-round nature education and have provided an accessible trail that even includes a guide rope for the blind. It sounds caring, inclusive and great. I'm going there soon. And I can't resist heading for a road called Yohne.
