Ropchan Nature Preserve

 

 

Location: From I-69 exit 154 (SR 127/Pokagon) turn left (north) off the exit ramp onto SR 127 and drive to SR 120. Turn left (west) onto SR 120 and drive about 7.5 miles to 750W. Turn right and look for the ACRES parking lot on your right.

Description:   The preserve includes a morainal ridge, with scattered boulders left by the retreating glaciers, a kettle hole lake and a tamarack bog.  The bog is in the eastern portion of the reserve. There are some interesting species here that are remnants from the glacial period, including the tamarack tree.  

Nearby Points of Interest: Cedar Swamp, McKenny Nature Preserve, Loon Lake, Marsh Lake, Pokagon State Park.
