Lincoln State Park

 

 

Location: South from I-64 on US 231 to SR 162: east on 162 a few miles to the park.

Description: Not Visited. Everyone wants a piece of Old Abe; this is Indiana's bit, but why complain if they're going to preserve some of our woodland? 11 miles of hiking trails, some reputedly beautiful campsites and a lake. Not far from Santa Claus, Indiana, of which the less said the better.

Nearby Points of Interest: Bloomfield Barrens Nature Preserve; Ferdinand State Forest; also check the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and the town of St. Meinrad, which is supposed to have an impressive Abbey.

Cautions: Watch out for Santa Claus!
