Location: Just east of Spencer or about 17 miles west of Bloomington on SR 46.
Description: The first of Indiana's state parks and still one of the best. The most interesting features are the falls at the head of the Canyon and Wolf's Cave, which is a cave most of which has collapsed long ago, leaving a forty-foot segment under a small hill that will give you a quick taste of what caving is all about (don't forget your flashlight). The hiking here is good and there's quite a bit of up-and-down on some of the trails as you cross the canyon, so you can commune with nature and get a workout at the same time. This is a great place for spring wildflowers and it's big enough to not seem crowded most of the time. The campsites are very nice. part of the park encompasses a nature preserve. A very mellow state park.
Nearby Points of Interest: Green's Bluff Nature Preserve; Cataract Falls; Bloomington is usually worth a visit and has Indiana's best ongoing music scene.
Cautions: Don't eat the persimmons until they're ripe or they'll turn your face inside out.
Ownership: Indiana DNR
