Berns-Meyer Woods

Location: From Monon on US 421, take SR 16 east to the junction with SR 119; then follow 119 past the Tippecanoe River Bridge at the town of Pulaski; from the bridge it is just over two miles to CR 100W; take this road south. The preserve parking lot is about half a mile on the right side of the road.

Description: 20 acre woodlot in a heavily agricultural area. Not an overly exciting trip, but if you are in the area it is worthwhile to stop by.  It has a developed loop trail and a very nice guide to posted spots along it.  A variety of large hardwoods, and some understory plants of interest; when I visited in fall, the wetland that was supposed to be here had dried up.  It had been an unusually dry period, though.  The trail seems to be changed periodically, mostly to avoid fallen trees.

Nearby Points of Interest: SR 119 continues northeast to Winamac, which is just south of Tippecanoe River State Park.

Baneberry

Cautions: Mosquitos thick in the summer.
