The Mythic worlds of granisland

By Charles Rampp

Behind all used book sci-fi shelves

Where children seek for half-price dreams,

Comic shelves and dust-jacket tomes—

Stand the mythic worlds of Granisland.

*

Beyond the tread of starmen tall,

Outside the reach of movie screen,

More real than any TV show,

The mythic worlds of Granisland.

*

Youth and old age together find

Their dreams and fantasies expand

To fill their thoughts and widen hopes,

These mythic worlds of Granisland.

*

Adventuring past daydreams clear,

Or seeking claim of new-found lands,

Dreams won’t run dry or disappear

On mythic worlds of Granisland.

*

When days seem weary, full of toil,

Each, like its neighbor, dull and trite,

Not even life’s old age will dim

The mythic worlds of Granisland.
