Concerto Curriculum
The Concerto Curriculum is an educational and community outreach program in which American Pianists Association artists perform for and interact with students and adults in schools, multi-service centers and retirement homes.
In high schools with orchestras, a three-day residency is scheduled during which time the students, director and pianist prepare a piano concerto for public performance. In other venues, the program can take the form of a performance with a question and answer period afterward, or can be presented as a master class where one topic is explored and illustrated in detail.
The objectives of the Concerto Curriculum are threefold:
- To provide as many meaningful musical experiences as possible for the Fellows and candidates.
- To reach new and under-served audiences.
- To provide career enhancement and pedagogical growth for the participants
The program is offered free of charge to participants, and is available throughout Indiana at this time. The curriculum will benefit students in music, as well as business, photography, journalism, art, and possibly other departments.

Poetry Out Loud
The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have partnered with the IAC to inaugurate Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest.
Poetry Out Loud builds on the recent resurgence of poetry as an oral art form, as demonstrated by the slam poetry movement and the immense popularity of rap music among our youth. The program encourages the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance, which help students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about our literary heritage.
Visit the National Poetry Out Loud website for more program details.
