Member Organization Categories
To determine which TAF category an organization belongs, first determine
if it is an arts or culture organization (ACO) as defined by the National Center
for Charitable Statistics. Next determine if the organization is a nonprofit or
for-profit organization. An organization must have it's

An organization that promotes the enjoyment or the understanding of the visual, performing, fold or media arts or the humanities; communications organizations; and organizations that promote the appreciation or understanding of historical events. (Includes museums, planetariums and halls of fame; historic preservation programs; groups of or services to artists, performers, entertainers, writers, or humanities scholars; programs which promote artistic expression of or within ethnic groups and cultures; and art and performing art schools, centers, and studios.

Does not include services that promote international understanding and friendly relations among nations through cultural programs; libraries and reading programs; botanical gardens or nature centers; or zoos.) Neither does it include art fairs and festivals or community recreational centers.

Member Organization Benefits by Type - word

An organization registered with the IRS as a §501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization with a hard copy of a determination letter from the IRS or an organization with an altruistic purpose and an annual budget less than $5000. (All organizations that don’t fit either description are considered for-profit by default.)

A for-profit Arts Organizations may also be Member Organizations as long
as it is an Arts related business.

A nonprofit organization outside the definition of an Arts & Culture Organization.


Dues are based on the annual budget of the organization
