Della Marie Piatt Zootman, 81, a resident of St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi and formerly of Brookston died Monday January 12, 1998 at the Healthcare Center. She had lived at the Healthcare Center since 1994.
She was born December 3, 1916 in Wolcott, Indiana, the daughter of Henry Ervon and Stella Vanessa Kendal Piatt.
She married Wallace
Max Zootmari in Monticello on August 23,
1942. He died in June 1978. The family had lived in Buffalo prior to moving
to Brookston in 1978. She had lived in Brookston until moving to the
Healthcare Center
in 1994.
She was retired from Purdue University in 1979 where she had worked as a payroll accountant in the Mechanical Engineering Departmerit.
She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church and Prairie Homemaker Extension Club. She served as an officer of the Community Van Committee. She enjoyed her crafts and china painting.
She is survived
by 3 daughters, Mrs. Mamdouh (Ruth) Bakr, Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Ted
(Peggy)
Lewellen of
Brookston, Ms. Berma Zootman of Lafayette and one son, Rev. Nord Zootman
of Delphi.
One brother, Kendall Piatt, Monticello, and one sister Helen Arthur of Monticello also survive. She had 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
One brother and 3 sisters preceded her in death.
Services will
be Thursday, January 15, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. in the Brookston United Methodist
Church with Pastor Mark Kurowski officiating. Burial will be in the
I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brookston. Friends may call at the Hartzler
Funeral Home in Brookston tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. and 1 hour prior to
the service in the church.
Memorials may
be made to St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi or the Brookston United Methodist
Church.
