Dortha Zarse, 84, of Reynolds, died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center.
She was born June 2, 1921, on a farm southwest of Reynolds and was a 1939 graduate of Reynolds High School.
She married Joseph B. Zarse on April 30, 1939, at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. He died March 11, 1999.
She was a homemaker and had lived on farms in White County all of her married life. She helped her husband farm.
She was a member of the Charming Chatty Home Economics Club for 25 years and had served as president and treasurer. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and knitting.
Surviving are a son, Bob (Kathy) Zarse of Reynolds; a daughter, Jean (Marvin) McCollum of Wolcott; one brother, John James of Battle Ground; and five sisters, Charlotte Swartz of Indianapolis, Anna Belle Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada, Betty Criswell of Monon, Marilyn Montgomery of Louisville, Ky., and Rosa Mae Young of Speedway; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, two sisters, a grandson and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Tuesday at At. [sic] St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds with Pastor Charles Blakey officiating. Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello was in charge.
Burial was in St. James Cemetery.
