Glen Youngstedt

Glen Gordon Youngstedt, 80, of West Lafayette, the father of a Brookston resident, died Thursday, April 25, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.

He was born July 12, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Gustavas Adolf and Hannah Westin Youngstedt. He married Lois Anderson on September 1, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio. She died September 2, 1993.

He graduated from Boardman, Ohio High School and attended Aviation Technical School for two years.

He worked at Purdue University from 1964-86 in the carpenter shop, and was facility manager at Harrison Hall on the Purdue Campus.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lafayette; Masonic Lodge #123 F&AM, Lafayette where he was a Past Master. He received the Boilermaker Award for Outstanding Student Service from Purdue University.

He is survived by a son, Glenn (Diane) Youngstedt of Stevenson, Michigan; two daughters, Glenna Otis of Mt. View, California and Carolyn (Tom) Shultz of Brookston, and two sisters Dorothy (Chuck) Fike of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Judy (Doyle) McDermott of Crown Point, Ind. Eight grandchildren also survive.

A brother and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston on Monday with Rev. Peg Nowling officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
