Harold "Jeff" Young, 87, of Monon died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 4:47 a.m. in White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello. He had been ill for two years.
He was born May 26, 1917 in Scottsburg, Indiana the son of Thomas and Pearl Stark Young. He married Georgia "Tootie" Stiller on June 25, 1938 in Francesville. She died November 6, 2000.
He graduated from Monon High School in 1935.
He had lived in the community all his life. He was a farmer and worked for 27 years until retirement from the White County Highway Department.
He was an avid hunter, trapper, mushroom hunter, fisherman, fur buyer, storyteller, and he liked to play horseshoes.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Jones of Monon and Susan Mullins of Terre Haute; one son, Barry (Bev) Young of Monon and one sister, Alberta Cade of Haines City, Florida.
He had eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
One son, three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Friends may call at the Kellogg Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 1st.
Funeral services will be at the Kellogg Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 2nd with Rev. Jim Bretzinger officiating.
Burial will be in Monon Cemetery.
