Rose Etta Armstrong Yerk, 96, a resident of Tioga Pines Living Center, Monticello, died Sunday, Nov. 12, at the center. She had been a Tioga Pines resident since Nov. 3, 1993.

She was born Oct. 22, 1899, to Festus Stephen and Emma Smith Armstrong, in Secor, Ill. She was married March 12, 1918, to John Elmer Yerk, in Secor, Ill, and he died May 24, 1973.

She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church Ruth Circle and of the Prairie Home Demonstration Club. She also belonged to the Forget Me Not Club.

Survivors are four sons; Earl M., Wolcott; Vern A., Monticello; Gene R., Brookston and Cletus E., West Lafayette; a daughter, Berniece Green, Monticello and 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. A son, Ivan Verk, a great grandson, five brothers and five sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Leland McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in the IOOF Brookston Cemetery.
