Walter W. Wiley

Walter W. Wiley, 93, of Monticello, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Twin Lakes Village Nursing Home, Monticello.

He was born in Jasper County on December 13, 1909, to Ernest and Ada Burkes Wiley. He married Dorothy W. Dahlenburg in White County on May 19, 1934. She died January 3, 2000.

He was a 1928 graduate of Monon High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in New Guinea.

He worked at RCA and was a farmer.

He was a charter member of the VFW. He had been a member of the Eagles Lodge, Royal Neighbors, and Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club, all of Monticello. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 107. He was also a member of the Rebekahs. He enjoyed playing euchre, pinochle and reading.

Survivors include sons Arthur W. (Cathy) Wiley of Graying, MI, Larry D. (Virginia) Wiley of Wolcott, Dennis L. (Janet) Wiley of Florence, Ala., Donald W. (Jan) Wiley of Monticello and Darrel A. (Kim) Wiley of Delphi; a sister, Bessie Watkins of Lake Village; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A brother, David L. Wiley, is deceased.

Funeral services were Friday at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Messer officiating.

Interment with full military rites was at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
