Ronald C. Widmer
Ronald C. Widmer, 65, of Brookston died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at St Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the last year.
He was born on June 15, 1939 in Royal Oak, Mich., to Lloyd and Doris Martin Widmer.
His family moved to Brookston, where he attended high school.
He married Leola "Snooky" Jeffries Widmer in Lafayette on June 17, 1960. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, Specialist 4th Class, light vehicle and truck driver. He was discharged in 1962.
He worked as a Die Corrector at ALCOA Metal Fabrication until retiring in 1998. He operated J&W Service station in Brookston for several yeara in the 1970's with his brother-in-law.
He attended the Brookston United Methodist Church.
He was an avid race fan, especially NASCAR. He also enjoyed working on automobiles, yard work and traveling after retirement.
Other survivors include a son, Monte Widmer of Lafayette and two brothers, Harold (Helen) Widmer of Lafayette and Kennethb [sic] (Loretta) Widmer of Marble Falls, Texas; a daughter-in law, Maria Widmer and granddaughters Gina and Carla Herr.
Sons Brannon and Bryan Widmer and a sister, Delores Coffey are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Dimick officiating. Interment was in Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
