Connie Sue Widmer, 47, of West Lafayette, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Home Hospital. She had been ill for two years.

She was born July 14, 1955 in Lafayette, the daughter of George and Anna Louise Bollock Purcell. She married Joe Widmer on March 16, 1974 in Otterbein. He survives.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and served on various committees. She coached softball teams and did volunteer work at the Otterbein School. She loved her family and friends.

Other survivors include a son Chad (Sarah) Widmer of Otterbein; daughters, Janelle Widmer of West Lafayette and Whitney Widmer at home; parents Anna and George Purcell, Jr. of West Lafayette; brothers Mike Purcell of Lafayette and George III (Yvonne) Purcell of Otterbein; sisters Janet (Robb) McKinney and Patty (Chuck) Kirtz, both of West Lafayette and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, April 14, 2003 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. David Smitley officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge of the service.

Burial was in Montmorenci Cemetery.
