David Whitaker

David E. Whitaker, 70 of Monticello, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born at Lafayette on August 2, 1933 to Paul and Mary Katherine (Hansell) Whitaker. He married Carol A. Winner-Griesey at Monticello on June 29, 1997.

He had lived in White County all of his life.

He was a 1951 graduate of Chalmers High School.

He was a farmer and was in sales.

He was a member of the Chalmers Community Church.

He was a member of the Wolcott Masonic Lodge.

He was a member of Murat Shrine in lndianapolis.

He grew and sold a lot of sweet corn in this area.

Other survivors include his mother, Mary Katherine Whitaker of Chalmers; former wife Donna L. Whitaker of Wolcott; sons, Douglas Whitaker of Wolcott, Greg (Kathy) Whitaker of Tampa, Fla., and Kurt (Lori) Whitaker of Lebanon; stepdaughters Cindy (Randy) Tolley of Covington and Connie Griesey of Lafayette; sister, Beatrice (Dave) Sheere of Valparaiso; brothers, Richard "Dick" Whitaker of Lakeland, Fla., and Joe (Sue) Whitaker of Monticello; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A brother, Al Whitaker is deceased.

Funeral services were at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald A. Stevens officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
