Robert E. Ward, 89, formerly of Monticello, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Twin Lakes Village, Monticello, where he had resided since August 1996.
He was born Jam 17, 1910, to Silas and Blanche Brewer Ward, in Delphi. He was married May 1, 1933, to Louise H. Klinkhammer in Rensselaer. She died May 4, 1998.
He had lived in Monticello since April 1992, moving there from the Wolcott area, where he lived from 1957-92.
He retired from farming in 1970. He worked for the Tri-County School Corp. from 1970-75.
He was a member of Wolcott Baptist Church.
Surviving are six sons, Robert Jr., Donald and Joe, all of Monticello; Charles of Monon, Fred of Chalmers and Rick of Leyden, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs Dick (Ella) Bulington of Kentland, Mrs Robert (Judy) Waymouth of Walton and Mrs Ed (Joan) Mitchell of Monticello; a brother, Charles of Texas; 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren and a stepgreat grandchild.
A son, John, four brothers, three sisters and a great grandchild are deceased.
Funeral services were Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial was in Meadow Lake Cemetery, south of Wolcott.
