Martha A. Knapp Ward, 80, Brookston, died 9:25 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.

Born Sept. 8, 1908, in Cass County, she had lived in Brookston since 1938 and moved to the healthcare center May 6. She was a 1923 graduate of Lucerne High School.

Mrs Ward was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi; Altar and Rosary Society; Brookston American Legion Aux iliary; and the former Get Together Club.

She was married July 7, 1926 to Albert Lee Ward, in Kewanna. He died April 24, 1865.

Surviving are three sons: Richard, John and Dale Ward, all of Brookston; one daughter, Mrs Jerry (Mary) Guiffre of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Thomas Knapp of Logansport; and two sisters, Mrs Mary Jane Basser of Logansport and Mrs Esther Sprinkle of Walton, Indiana.

Also surviving are 23 grand children, 18 great grandchildren. One son and a grandson preceded in death.

Services were 10 a.m. this morning in St Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, with Father Donald Hardebeck officiating. Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of services.
