Earl E. Wann, 86, of Foley, Alabama, a former Chalmers resident, died Friday, October 26, 2001, in Alabama.
He was born February 28, 1915, in Cissna Park, IL, to Daniel B. and Marie Gruessing Wann. He married Jean Naylor on Dec. 17, 1943, in Groton, Conn. She survives.
He had lived in Alabama for the past eight years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He farmed in Chalmers area for 37 years and was employed by Kenny Implement in Monticello for 23 years. He was also a retired postal carrier in Chalmers.
He served on the boards of the White County Farm Bureau and Frontier School Corp.
He was a member of Chalmers American Legion Post 268 for over 55 years and was Post Commander from 1948 — 1971.
He was a member of Chalmers Community Church.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Dan (Jeane) Wann of Indianapolis; a daughter, Judy (Ron) Hampton of Indianapolis; brothers Ivan (Jean) Wann of Veedersburg, Robert (Sherry) Wann of Indianapolis, Dean (Britt) Wann of Tecumseh, MI., a sister Lucille Lehmann of Belvill, IL and four grandchildren.
Six sisters and a brother are deceased.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. this morning at Chalmers Community Church with Pastor Bill Henderson officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Chalmers American Legion Post 268 was in Chalmers Community Cemetery. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge of the services.
