Lawrence Emery Waits Sr., 69, Brookston and Salem, Ind., died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the home of his son, Marvin Walts, Brookston, when he had been staying for the past two months.
He was born Oct. 12, 1918 in Washington County, Ind., and lived in Brookston for 20 years before moving to Salem. He came back here two months ago to stay with his son.
Mr Walts retired nine years ago from United Feeds in Brookston. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He married Ruby Ethel Schults and she died in 1964.
Surviving with his son, Marvin Walts of Brookston, are three other sons, Lawrence Emery Walts Jr., Remington, Daniel Mitchell Walts, Monticello, and Melvin Walts, Romney; three daughters, Mrs Barbara Henderson, Monticello, Mrs Mary Benedict, Lafayette and Marcella Walts of Palatine, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs Edith Martin, Mitchell, Ind.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren. A sister preceded in death.
Services were at Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell, Ind., at 10 a.m. Satudray. Interment was at Cavetown Cemetery, Campbellsburg, Ind.
