Bernard N. Wagner

          Bernard Nicholas Wagner, 79, Monticello, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Monticello Healthcare Center. He had resided at the center for 4 1/2 years.

          He was born Aug. 10, 1920, to Anthony and Mary Stien Wagner, in White County. He was married Feb. 3, 1945, to Eileen LaVerne Moore, in Remington. She survives.

          He lived in Wolcott and Remington and moved in 1978 to Monticello.

          He was a farmer in his early life, then worked at the milk plant in Remington and did elevator work.

          In his later years he was a carrier for the Monticello Herald Journal, Lafayette Journal and Courier and Chicago Tribune.

          He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello.
          He is survived by his wife; sons, Martin J. (Wendy) Wagner, Springfield, VA and Anthony F. (Carmalee Middleton) Wagner, Monticello; daughters, Mrs Glenn "Catherine" Minick, Remington; Theresa L. Wagner, Monticello and Mrs James "Jacqueline" Meyers, Monon; a son-in-law, Charles Robbins, Elkhart; sisters, Luella Clark, Remington; Eileen Egan, Medaryville and Shirley Lehman, Nappanee; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four stepgreat grandchildren; and four stepgreat great grandchildren.
          Two brothers, Eugene Wagner and Richard Wagner; a daughter, Marie Robbins and grandsons James and Michael Robbins are deceased.
          Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 am. in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. James Goodrum officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
          Burial will be in Riverview IOOF Cemetery.
          Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Monticello Hlealthcare Center.
