Harold Eugene Victor, 74, of Brookston died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born in Chalmers on Feb. 15, 1926, to Leonidas "Sony" and Alna May Ford Victor. He married Irene E. Schrader at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lafayette on June 7, 1947. She survives.
He attended Brookston schools and was a 1944 graduate of Delphi High School
He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War 11 who served as a PFC with TRP E 17 Cav Reg. Sq. in the Rhineland and Central Europe.
He worked at Wichersham's Seed Company from 1951 - 1973, at Chester from 1973-76 and at Hunt Wesson Foods from 1976-91, when he retired.
He lived all his life and served as fire chief for the Town of Brookston from 1965-83.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Reynolds and was a member of the Brookston American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Steven (Peggy) Victor of Owensburg, KY, and Michael (Sara) Victor and Roger (Alice) Victor, both of both of Brownsburg; daughters, Vicki (Dave) Victor Howland all of Brownsburg; brother, Melvin (Maxine) Victor of Flora; sister, Barbara Gagnon of Brookston; 18 grandchildren and two great-grand children.
A great grand daughter, Michaela Riley, and a brother Robert Victor, are deceased.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Reynolds, with Rev. Richard Miller officiating.
Burial with military service and graveside rites by the Brookston American Legion was at 1.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston with Hartzler Funeral Home in charge.
