John C. VanMeter

John C. VanMeter, 74, R.3, Monticello, died Sunday, Nov. 4, in Tioga Pines Living Center. He had been in ill health for three months and seriously ill for two months.

He was born March 29, 1916, to Arthur and Maybelle Bonebrake VanMeter, in Columbus. He was married April 10,1942, to Ruth W. Bothner, in Washington, D.C. She survives.

Coming to Monticello from Kent, Washington, he had lived on Kean's Bay, Lake Shafer for the past nine years.

He was on the Army Medical Staff during World War II in France and England.

He was a biochemist with Lederle Laboratories and was also employed with the Newcastle State Hospital.

Surviving with the wife are three sons: Erick, Brookston; Arthur 0., Fairfax, Va.; and George, Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs Clifford (Lora E.) Askinazi, Sudbury, Mass. and Mrs Donald (Elsie) VanMeter-Pint, Lansing, Ill; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. The body will be cremated.
