Jess Van Meter, 84, formerly of Brookston, died Jan. 1, 1988, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

He was born Oct. 5, 1903 and married Alma Deckard who is deceased.

He used to operate a rough lumber yard in Brookston and did construction work and bought and sold livestock.

Surviving are three step-children, Audrey Deckard Wilson of Elizabethtown, Ky., Esther Deckard May of West Lafayette and Roscoe Deckard of Brookston.

Services were held Jan. 4 at the Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Burial was in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
