Jerry Joe Tiede

Jerry Joe Tiede, 59, of Francesville, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at his home.

He was born April 26, 1945 in Francesville the sone of Donald V. and Marian R. Ringen Tiede.

He married Janelle E. Bailey on January 20, 1985 in Francesville. She survives.

He had lived in Francesville all his life and was the assistant manager of the Francesville CO-OP Elevator where he had worked for 37 years.

Joe was a member of the First Christian Church in Francesville. He had served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Francesville/Salem Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. Joe was awarded the Governor's Merit award for Firemen on February 7, 2004.

He loved stock car racing and had raced cars when he was younger. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Other survivors include three daughters, Jodi (Michael) Wash of Francesville, Dee (Matthew) Messer of Winamac and JoEllen (Gary) Sheffer of Monticello and one son, Jerrod "Buzz" Alma of Francesville and five grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ruth Ann Bishop of Lafayette, Linda Rusk of Francesville and two brothers, Donald "Skip" Tiede and Glenn Tiede both of Francesville also survive.

One brother Billy Tiede is deceased

Funeral services were Tuesday at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home with James Ketchen officiating. Burial with full military services was held at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Francesville/Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department, or to Jasper Co. Hospice.
