Paul S. Thompson

Paul Stoner Thompson, 91, Brookston, former owner of the Thompson Funeral Home in Brookston, died Thursday, June 21, at 3:55 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette, where he had been a pa tient since June 12th.

Mr Thompson and his wife had moved to the George Davis Manor in West Lafayette, last August.

He was born May 25, 1896, in White County. He married Bessie Keplar, May 11, 1924, in Pulaski County and she survives.

Mr Thompson was a graduate of Pulaski High School in 1919 and of Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1929. He had been employed at the Stephans Funeral Home in Monticello, before coming to Brookston in 1936.

He and his wife operated the funeral home from 1938 until Larry Hartzler purchased it July 1, 1965. Mr Thompson was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, a charter member of the Brookston Optimist Club, a member of Libanus Masonic Lodge in Monticello and a member of the former Knights of Pythias and IOOF lodges in Brookston.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs John P. (Gloria) Erickson, R.2, Brookston and a brother, Robert Thompson, Francesville. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; Steve Erickson, West Lafayette, John F. Erickson and Mrs Robert (Lana) Little, Brookston and 7 great grandchildren.

The service was Monday at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Smith and the Rev. Duncan MacNab officiating.

Interment was in Tippecanoe Cemetery, Pulaski County.

Memorials may be given to Brookston Federated Church.
