Bessie A. Keplar Thompson, 95, of Davis Manor, West Lafayette, diedSaturday, March 11, atHome Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been admitted Wednesday.
She was born May 7, 1899, to Samuel W. and Emma Bell Warfield Keplar, in Pulaski County. She was married May 11, 1924, to Paul Stoner Thompson at her parents' home in Pulaski County. He died June 21, 1990.
She and her husband owned and operated the Thompson Funeral Home from 1936-1965 when it was sold to Larry and Norine Hartzler.
She taught school at North Manchester and Pulaski County from 1918-1936.
She graduated
in 1918 from Pulaski High School and attended Manchester College. She lived
in
Monticello
from 1929-1936 and resided in Brookston from 1936-1989 before moving to
West
Lafayette.
She was
a member of the Brookston Federated Church, the Prairie Home Demonstration
Club
and a
retired member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Chi Chapter, Brookston. She
received her 50-year pin from OES Crystal Chapter No. 165, Monticello.
Survivingare a daughter, Mrs. John P. (Gloria) Erickson, R.2, Brookston; three grandchildren, Steve Erickson, West Lafayette, John F. Erickson, R.2, Brookston, and Mrs Robert (Lana) Little, Brookston and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters and six brothers are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Cemetery, Pulaski County.
