Francis E. "Chub" Thomas, 72, Brookston, died Tuesday, March 7, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he was admitted Friday, March 3.

He was born in Badger Grove on Feb.5, 1923 to Clarence W. and Katherine H. Fry Thomas. He married Mary Elizabeth Dwane on Feb. 13, 1944 in Reynolds. She died May 14, 1993.

He was a retired farmer. He was also retired from Thomas Lime Service.  He had lived all his life in the Badger Grove Community.

He attended Brookston schools, and the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Stephen F. of Rt. 1, Brookston, and David O. of Rt. 2, Brookston; one brother, Marvin Thomas of Burnettsville; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) Minniear, Rt. 1, Reynolds; and two grandchildren, Laura and Michael Thomas.

One brother, Everett, and a sister, Leota Matthews, are deceased.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Robert L. Rawlins officiated.

Burial was in the IOOF Brookston Cemetery.
