Clarence W. Thomas
Clarence W. Thomas, 99, formerly of Rt. 1, Brookston, died Thursday morning, Jan. 27, at Heritage Healthcare Center, West Lafayette. He had lived there since November 1990.
He was born in Summitville on Dec. 3, 1894, to Micajah and Merian Etta Rich. He married Katherine E. Fry on July 31, 1918 in Brookston. She died Jan. 4, 1986.
He lived in the Brookston area since age 17.
He farmed in the Badger Grove area for many years before retiring in 1960.
He was a member of the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) Minniear of Rt. 1, Reynolds; two sons, Marvin of Rt. 1, Brookston, and Francis "Chub" of Rt. 2, Brookston; 12 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
One son, one daughter and three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 30, at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, Pastor Christi Schmidt and Pastor Bob Rawlins officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Brookston.
