William Birdell Telfer, 85, 618 S. 9th St., Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, died at his home Monday, Oct. 16, at 11:30 p.m.
He was
born July 18, 1910 in Brookston to Robert Telfer and Estelle Statton Telfer.
He married
Dorothy
Hayes on November 12, 1929 in Brookston and she died May 19, 1983.
He graduated from Brookston High School in 1928 and attended Purdue University. He retired from the Civil Engineering lab at Purdue University in 1975.
He moved from Brookston to Attica where he lived from 1947-62 before moving to Lafayette.
He was a Charter member of the Tippecanotes (Barbershop) Lafayette Chapter SPEBSQSA, and a member of the Tippy Canoe Campers Club.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Lewis H. (Patricia) Blanchard and Mrs. Aleta Brown both of Lafayette; 1 brother, Statton Telfer of Wolcott; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren
Four brothers. Robert, Virgil, J. Howard and Ralph Telfer are deceased.
The funeral service was at 11.00 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
