Ida Tyler Swan


Ida Tyler Swan, 90, of Remington died Tuesday, June 27, in Home Hospital in Lafayette. She had been ill for two weeks.

Mrs. Swan was a telephone operator for several years and she worked part time at George Ade Hospital at Brook and Campus Inn Motel in Lafayette.

Born October 27, 1904 near Remington, she lived in the area most of her life and had spent winters in Palmetto, Florida. She was educated in Remington Schools and Lafayette Business College.

She married Hartley Tyler on June 4, 1932, in Remington, and he died June 3, 1961. They farmed near Remington for many years. On July 14, 1979 she married Harold G. Swan, and he survives.

Mrs Swan was a member of the United Methodist Church, Dorcas Club, Order of Eastern Star and Garden Club, all in Remington.  Her hobbies were ceramics and oil painting.

Also surviving are a son, Larry Tyler of Hartford City; two daughters, Mrs Richard (Beverly)  Bowman of Remington and Mrs Peter (Karen) Hill of Newark, Del.; two stepsons, Herb Swan of Owosso, Mich, and Harqld Swan of Shiwassee, Mich; four stepdaughters, Mrs Harold (Viola) Tejkl and Mrs Frank (Donna) Hall, both of Florida, Lois Tejkl and Arlene Vuckzik, both of Owosso. She also had 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The funeral was Friday at the United Methodist Church in Remington with Rev. Kenneth Walter officiating. Burial was in Remington Cemetery. Stitz Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
