Edith Elizabeth Stiller, 82, formerly of Monon, died Monday, Feb. 18, in Milner Community Healthcare, Rossville. She had been ill for eight months and had lived at the health care facility since July 1990.
She was born Oct 15, 1908, to Cary and Kate Wickham Lucy, in White County. She was married Nov. 7, 1927, to Clarence O. Stiller, in Francesville. He died April 12, 1984.
She moved
in 1984 to Lafayette from the Monon community, where she lived most of
her life.
She was
a 1925 graduate of Monticello High School.
She and her husband owned and operated the former Conoco gas station in Monon for several years. She was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years at Monon Corporation.
She was a member of Monon United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher there for several years. She was a former member of Monticello Business & Professional Women Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor L. Bess, Battle Ground and Beverly Stroup, Windermere, Fla.; a sister, Blanche Overley, Monticello; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. A daughter and two brothers are deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. John Bell officiating.
Burial was in Chapel Cemetery.
