Bertha Crawford Staley

Bertha Crawford Staley, 83, of 301 W. Fourth St.. Brookston, died Wednesday. Dcc 23, 1998 at 2:35 pm at Regency Place, Lafayette, where she had been a resident since July.

She was born March 21, 1916 in Knoxville, Tenn., to David and Mary Ellis McDonald Crawford. She married Arthur Staley on May 1, 1932. He survives.

She had lived in Brookston for 2! years, having moved from Odell, Ind.

She worked in the Surgery Department of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, retiring after 35 years of service.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Bob of Lafayette, Roy of West Lafayette and Jerry of Kingman Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Benny (Mary) Henry of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Mike (Betty) Priest of Indianapolis and Mrs. Lee (Charlotte) Turner of Brookston; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

A son, an infant son, a sister, a half brother and a half sister are deceased

Funeral services were Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rcv. Harvey Lang officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
