James W. Smith

James W. Smith, 76, of Monticello died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 in Monticello Assisted Living & Healthcare Center. He had been in the center for four months after falling and breaking his hip.

He was born in Monon on July 26, 1927, the son of Wayne and Verniece Gray Smith.

He had lived in White County all of his life.

He graduated from Monon High School in 1945.

He retired from RCA in Monticello and had served in the US Air Force in the Aleutian Islands in 1945 & 1946.

He was a member of Amvets Lodge in Monticello.

He is survived by two brothers, Richard (Helen) Smith of Crown Point, and Reid (Betty) Smith of Monticello.

Three brothers, John Smith, Robert Smith and Charles Smith and two sisters, Marjorie Brown and Betty Smith, preceded him in death.

Graveside services were Friday, June 11^th in Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Mathew Pickut officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
