Jesse Ned Sims, 85, 305 E. Eighth St., Brookston, died Monday, Dec. 7, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Sept. 25.
He was born March 1, 1907, to Willie and Savanah Wood Sims, in Tompkinsville, Ky. He was married Aug. 10, 1930, to Ruby High, in Tompkinsville, and she survives.
He moved to Brookston, in 1937, where he was a farmer and employee of National Homes, Corp., Lafayette, retiring in 1974.
He was a charter member and elder of the Brookston Church of Christ.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters; Mrs Dave (Helen) Young, West Lafayette, Mrs Lee (Wilma) Strickland, Huntsville, Alabama; six sisters: Evelyn Horton, Brookston, Christine Poindexter, Wolcott, Mary Short and Ada Arms, both of Indianapolis, Maude Hamilton, Celina, Tenn. and Ollie Smith, Louisville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Four sisters, a brother and infant daughter are deceased.
The funeral was today at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Bill Romans officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
