Shirley Jane Dunn Simpson, 77, of Indianapolis, a former Monon resident, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at Manor Care South, Indianapolis.
She was born in Indianapolis on April 1, 1923, to Cecil and Gay A. Acklen Dunn. She married Hubert E. Simpson in Indianapolis on July 23, 1950. He is de ceased.
She was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School.
She was a secretary for the Indianapolis Board of Education and retired in 1971.
She was a member of Monticello Christian Church and a former member of Speedway Christian Church.
She was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Auxiliary and the Indianapolis Order of Eastern Star 669.
She is survived by a daughter. Shirley L. (John) Bradshaw of New Market, MD; her mother, Gay A. (Acklen) Dunn of Indianapolis; sisters, Jean Jackson of Speedway and Marilyn Stumph of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Michele L. Robinson of Ellicott City. MD, and Jeffrey J. Bradshaw of Cockeysville, MD; and great-grandchild, Rachel L. Robinson of Ellicott City, MD.
A great-grandchild, Samuel J. Robinson, is deceased.
Funeral service was May 4, 2000 at Flanner and Buchanan Speedway Mortuary; the Rev. Don Arterbum officiated.
Entombment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
