CARL R. SILER

Carl R. Siler, 65, died at 8 a.m. Monday, March 2, in his home at 3332 Division Road, West Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the last four years.

He was born to James and Emma Chandler Siler in Harlan, Kentucky, Aug. 21, 1921. He lived in the West Lafayette area for the last seven and a half years. He was married to Hazel B. Sams, Sept. 4, 1979, who survives.

He had been a coal miner and long-distance truck driver and also operated a filling station for several years near Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Kingdom Hall of Johovah's Witnesses in Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, James, Seattle, Wash.; Billy Ray, Waller, Texas; and Wayne, Oliver Springs, Tenn.; and four daughters, Mrs Shirley Tankersley, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; Mrs Colleen Bailey, Pearlblossom, Calif.; Mrs Leatha Josephson, Freemont, Calif.; and Mrs Glenna Henderson of Rockwood, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hartzler Funeral Home at Brookston with Don Stidham officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney.
