Ruth E. Naugle Shoemaker, 86, died Saturday, June 9, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
She was born Nov. 12, 1903, to Virgil and Maggie Clegg Naugle, in Salem.She was married May 31, 1923, to Lloyd Shoemaker in Monticello.
She and her parents lived in Salem before moving to Monticello. She was a graduate of Monticello High School. She moved to Chalmers in 1923. She was a member of Monticello Christian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Perry and Kenneth, both of Lafayette and Paul, Chalmers; five daughters, Mrs Cecil (Florence) Payne, Fort Wayne, Mrs Jack (Margaret) Conkright, Lafayette, Mrs Don (Eileen) Park, Chalmers, Mrs Charles (Betty) Byroad, Monon, and Mrs Dennis (Mary) Cornett, Otterbein; a brother, Willis Naugle, Fowler; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. A sister and two half sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Maurice Davis officiating.
Burial
was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
