Rodney Walter Shiveley, 65, formerly of Brookston, died of cancer Monday, July 29, in a hospice facility in Seattle, Washington. He was the son of the late Walter and Alice Shiveley of Brookston.

Shiveley graduated from Brookston High School in 1955, and is remembered in White County as a member of many Brookston championship basketball teams. He attended Hanover College and studied music at Indiana University. He was an avid reader,loved the most challenging crossword puzzles and was a professional pianist.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, 3 children; Kanda, Lora and Michael, their mother, Pat Shiveley, 2 grandchildren, Anthony and Austin, all of Seattle and a sister, Ramona Wessel of Hower Mound, Texas. Preceding him in death was his brother, Rick.
