He was born in Brookston on July 13, 1929, to Arch and Blanche Baylor Shine. He married Mary L. Meeks in Fairfield Ill. of September 5, 1953. She survives
He was a 1948 graduate of Buffalo High School and had lived in White County all of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked at RCA for 26 1/2 years. He was then custodian at the Monticello Christian Church for eight years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and was on the Building Committee.
He was an avid Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Mrs. Kathi J. (David) Jordan of Winamac, Karen L. Murray of Valparaiso and Mrs Peggy Sue (Bart) Carpenter of West Lafayette; brothers Guy W. Shine of West Lafayette; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, June 12, 2000 at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Mark A. Pittman officiating. Burial with military rites was at IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
