Ruth H. Kepp Shell

Ruth H. Kepp Shell, 70, R.1, Chalmers, died Saturday, Feb. 12, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been in failing health for the last six months.

She was born March 18, 1923, to George and Wilda Smith Kepp, in Monticello. She was married in 1969, to Harold S. Shell, who survives.

She graduated from Monticello High School in 1941, and attended Manchester College in North Manchester.

She was a member and former secretary of the Chalmers Community Church and the Women's Fellowship of the church. She was also treasurer for former U.S. Rep. Jim Jontz, from 1976 to 1993. She was a former vice precinct committeeman in Big Creek Township and editor of the Chalmers News for 10 years. She was past president of the Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority and member of White Co. Democratic Women and Chalmers American Legion Post Auxiliary.

Surviving with her husband are two sons; Stephan of Middletown, Ohio and Robert of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs Scott (Beverly) Fudge of Indianapolis and two grandchildren.

The funeral was Wednesday in Chalmers Community Church, with Rev. Loren Shuman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
