James H. Sheets, 71, formerly of R.2, Brookston, died April 3, in the Indiana Veterans Home, where he had been a patient for the past 11 days.

He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Veedersburg, where he lived until moving to the Lafayette area in
1964.

Be married Patricia N. Meihls, Sept. 8, 1945, in Veedrsburg. She died March 16, 1990.

He was a steam fitter at Purdue, from 1945 until retiring in 1988.

Mr Sheets was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Veedersburg and American Legion Post 492 of West Lafayette.

Surviving are a son, Terry Sheets, Brookston; three daughters, Diane Blankenbaker, Danforth, Ill.; Mrs James (Dixie) Robinson, Brookston and Ms Carolyn Sheets, West Lafayette. One brother, Kenneth Sheets, Veedersburg, also survives along with 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and 3 brothers.

Services were Monday in the Hippensteel Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, with Rev. John Martz officiating. Burial was in Spring Vale Cemetery.
