Gladys F. Sharkey, 85, of Merrillville, a former Monon resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Lincolnshire Health Care Center, Merrillville.

She was born April 27, 1915, to Ellis and Mary Bivens Beamer, in Luke, Md. She was married in 1941, to Roger Sharkey in Wolcott, and he died in 1963.

She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Monon and Speedway.

She is survived by a son, Allan Shakey, Chicago; and friend, Gloria Taylor, Chicago.

A sister and brother are deceased.

Funeral service was Saturday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
