Virgil Robert Seymour, 85, of Mission, Texas, a former Reynolds resident, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at Mission Hospital, Mission, Texas.
He was born at Reynolds on October 10, 1918, to Arthur and Vesta Martin Seymour. He married Barbara Heimlich at Reynolds on October 2, 1942. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was an electrician 1st Class.
He was manager of the Mobil Oil Bulk Plant in Reynolds for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
While in the Reynolds community, he and his wife were members of the New Hope Lutheran Church of Monticello. They have since transferred their membership to a church in Mission, Texas.
He was a 54-year member of the Libanus Masonic Lodge 154 F&AM, and a member of the Moose Lodge and AMVETS, all of Monticello. He was a 59-year member of the American Legion Post of Monticello and a 44-year member of VFW of Reynolds. He was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for 59 years and Murat Shrine Temple for 43 years, both of Indianapolis and Nomad Shrine of McAllen, Texas.
He and his wife moved from the Reynolds community in 1991 and traveled in their motor home until settling in Mission, Texas, six years ago.
Other survivors include a son, Ronald D. (Nancy) Seymour of Union, Kentucky; daughters, Jacquelyn D. (John) Gaffney-Seymour of Los Gatos, California, Sherian K. Geisler of Logansport and Tanice E. (Jesse) Palacious of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
A brother, Arthur Seymour, is deceased.
Services were Friday at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Monticello with Rev. James N. Gustafson officiating. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
Entombment was at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital in Chicago.
