Emma S. Schoonover

Emma Sterner Schoonover, 75, Brookston, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 11:45 a.m. in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient since July. She was a homemaker and a former post office employee.

She was born in Chalmers, Jan. 31, 1912, and was a 1930 graduate of Chalmers High School. She also attended Fort Wayne Business College for two years. Mrs Schoonover lived in Chalmers before moving to Brookston in Dec. 1984.

She was a member of Chalmers Community Church, where she played piano and was a member of the choir and WCF. She was also a member of Charming Chattys Home Demonstration Club, Chalmers Book Club and Twin Lakes Senior Citizens in Monticello.

She was married to William Aubrey "Aub" Schoonover, Nov. 28, 1935, in Chalmers. He died April 9, 1984.

Surviving are a daughter, Ms Laurice Ritchie, Indianapolis; one son, James Schoonover, Annandale, Va.; a brother, Clifford B. Sterner, Chalmers, and one sister, Mrs Anna Harner, Lafayette. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.

Service was at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev Loren Shuman officiating.

Interment was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
