Rev. Harold "Hal" Melvin Schlobohm, Jr.

Reverend Harold "Hal" Melvin Schlobohm, Jr., 72, of Necedah, WI, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison, WI.

He was born June 17, 1928 in Peoria, IL, the son of Harold and Anna (Bolles) Schlobohm. He graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria. He received his Bachelors of Science from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and his Masters of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.

He married the former Helen Anderson on July 30, 1950 in Peoria, IL. He served his country in the US Naval Reserves. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in June 1958, and then served congregations in Decatur, IL, Monon, IN, Westfield and Greenwood (rural Dalton), WI., Randolph, WI, Bilgy, Forest River and Inister, ND Cambria and Greenwood, WI and Rock Island, IL. He retired in January 1999 and was currently residing in Necedah. WI. In addition to his ministry, he also served as Fire Chief and EMT in Gilby, ND, was a member of the Randolph, WI., Rotary Club, was active with the Circuit Riders and Goidwing Riders Motorcycle Clubs, and also served in many capacities and on many committees with the Presbyterian Church, USA and the John Knox Presbytery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; 2 daughters; Alyson (Terry) Janke, Westfield, WI and Micah Schlobohm, Elkhart, IN and Paul (Peggy) Schlobohm, Goshen, In. One sister-in-law Mary Lochbaum, Peoria, IL, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and special aunt, Margaret Cation.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday. June 29, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mauston, WI, with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Memorial visitation will also be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 28, 2000.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to either the Wisconsin Council on the Blind or the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield or Manston. Steinhaus Funeral Home in Westfield served the family.
