She was born Aug. 10, 1953, to Bogdon S. and Jane Hansell Mareachen, in Lafayette. She was married to Bouchaib Sari and he survives.
She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Purdue University.
She was a library media specialist at North College Hill High School. Prior to that she was employed at Connersville High School.
Surviving are her husband; her parents; two sisters, Cathy Heavilin and Ruth Heinimann; a brother-in-law, Scott Heise; a nephew, Andrew Heavilin; and two nieces, Anya and Lexi Heinimann.
She was preceeded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services were Monday at 1 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Purdue Foundation/Mareachen/Slezak Alumni Scholarship Fund in memory of Josephine Ann Sari.
