Johanna M. Rowe, 88, formerly of Brookston, died Friday March 1, at Indiana Veteran's Home, West Lafayette.

She was born July 31; 1902, to William Herman and Ida Rost Friedrich, in Dyer. She was married June 24, 1925, to Gilbert (Gib) Rowe, in Dyer. He died July 14, 1970.

She was a seamstress who began sewing at age 11. She attended Hammond Business College and Chicago Dress Making School.

Since 1934, she had lived in Brookston and was a member of Brookston American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Lester (Marjorie) Gray, R.5, Monticello and Mrs Susan Thomson, Hialeah, Fla.; a daughter-in law, Mrs Marilyn Rowe, Lafayette; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One son, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.  Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
